This piece is turned from maple.  It measures 2 3/4" high and 6" x 7 3/4" oval.  It's elipitical shape and natural edge are formed by the outside of the log from which it was taken. The lower exterior portion of the piece has be given a rusty patina.  The interior features the grain pattern of two converging branches which give the illusion of Owl Eyes.  The dark feature in the center is a bark inclusion formed by the merger of the two limbs.
