The gourd itself is colored using transparent gourd dye which allows the natural mottling of the gourd to be featured.  The upper edge of the gourd has twigs woven with raffia.  There are additional twigs inserted into the opening of the gourd.  This gourd iw 8" in diameter and is 20" tall including the twigs.
