The large opening in the front of this art gourd is rimmed with coils of pine needles wrapped with waxed linen with beads suspended between the coils.  The gourd is colored with a translucent gourd dye in graduated tones to  allow the natural mottling of the gourd to show through.  The stem of the gourd is still intact and adds an extra 4" to the 7" height of the gourd, which is 8 3/4" in diameter.
