Cholla is a cactus which is native to Southwestern United States. The tree cholla is known for its barbed spines that cling tenaciously to skin, fur and clothing. However, when it dies, it leaves behind cholla wood, a skeleton of hollow tubes with regularly spaced holes. When cut in cross section, the skeleton resembles the petals of a flower. This beautiful vessel was turned from pieces of cholla skeleton strategically and artfully placed in resin. This hollowform vessel measures 11" in diameter and is 10" tall.
